Pain from gums can be traced to infection or even periodontal disease. Symptoms such as swollen gums and/or overly sensitive oral tissue, may be early signs of gum disease. For situations like this, more intensive teeth cleanings such as scaling and root planing may be needed. It is important to treat infection before they progress and create more complications.

Frequently Asked Questions

A dental emergency is an oral health issue that requires immediate or same-day medical attention. The following symptoms signify that you require dental emergency care:

  • Severe toothache
  • Swelling in the gums, jaw, or face
  • Lost or broken dental restoration (such as a filling or a crown)
  • Knocked-out or dislodged tooth
  • Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth

We do offer same-day emergency appointments. To schedule an appointment, contact our office at 909-310-2051, and we will do our best to provide you with the care you need as soon as possible.

If you have a severe toothache, schedule an emergency dental appointment without delay. Do not hesitate to call our office at 909-310-2051, and we will do our best to admit you as soon as possible. While you are waiting for your appointment, take over-the-counter painkillers to manage the pain, but be careful not to exceed the recommended dose. Avoid chewing on the painful side of the mouth, and keep your mouth clean and use saltwater rinses 3 to 4 times a day. If you experience swelling, apply cold compresses to the outer side of your cheek for 15 minutes at a time with 30-minute breaks between the applications.

Both knocked-out and broken teeth can be treated, but they require different procedures:

  • Provided that you receive medical attention within 30 to 60 minutes after the tooth has been knocked out, it can be reinserted into its socket and will heal over time. On your way to the office, it is crucial to preserve the tooth by storing it correctly, in a clean container filled with saliva or milk, or in your mouth, between the gum and the cheek. Never use soap, cloth, or napkins to clean the tooth, and do not store it in water.
  • A broken tooth can be saved with a root canal and subsequent restoration with a crown, bonding, or veneer, except for cases when the tooth is broken at the gumline.

In our office, we work hard to provide you with the care you need as soon as possible, and offer same-day and emergency appointments. However, the exact wait time depends on the availability of our emergency dentist. If you have a severe toothache or sustained oral trauma, do not hesitate to call our office at 909-310-2051, and we will do our best to admit you as soon as possible.

Typically, ERs can not provide you with dental care. It is recommended to go to the ERs only if you experience difficulty swallowing or breathing, severe swelling that spreads beyond the jaw, or a high fever. For all other oral health issues, it is recommended to go to an emergency dentist.

The cost of emergency treatment can vary significantly, depending on the type of procedure you require. For example, simple tooth extractions can cost around $300, while root canal treatment for complicated cases can cost up to $1,500. Your doctor will be able to give you a more accurate estimation of your treatment costs after an examination.

We accept same-day appointments but we highly recommend calling our office in advance for walk-ins. If you experience a dental emergency, do not hesitate to call our office at 909-310-2051, and our team will do their best to admit you as soon as possible.
