What Are Dental Bridges?
Dental bridges are artificial teeth linked together that replace several teeth in a row. For most bridges, at either end is a dental crown that caps a natural tooth. These points serve as anchors that provide stability for the replacement teeth. We provide several types of bridges, depending on each patient’s unique situation.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Custom-made dental bridges come with a number of advantages, including:
- Shorter timeline for final results
- Natural look for a bright, confident smile
- Durable, resistant materials
- Easy to clean and maintain
How Do I Get Dental Bridges?
- Consultation: Every tooth replacement process starts with the consultation. We take the time to ensure you know all your available options, as well as the advantages and limitations of each path.
- Preparation: Depending on your oral health, the teeth that will anchor the bridge may need some preparation. This may be as minor as treating decay, or it may involve shaving down and reshaping the tooth.
- Impressions: We then take impressions of your mouth. These are precise representations used by our technicians to make a set of bridges that fits you and only you.
- Fitting & Placement: When your bridges arrive, you can come back to the office for your final visit. We will place the bridge and ensure it fits well and feels great. If everything is up to our high standards, we then permanently affix the bridge in place. And you can leave our office with a full smile.

Typically, the options you have for dental bridges are either fixed or removable.
Fixed Bridges
Fixed bridges are permanently attached either by placing crowns on the abutment teeth or by directly with a strong bonding material..
Removable Bridges
Removable bridges are attached to teeth by some sort of clasps and are easily detachable similar to dentures.

FAQs
Will dental bridges look natural?
For dental bridges to look natural, you will want to work with an experienced dentist. Natural-looking bridges depend upon expert fabrication by lab technicians and proper placement by your dentist. We take extra care to color-match the material, ensuring a seamless blend with your natural teeth. Lastly, keeping your bridges clean will keep them looking great.
Will my bridges feel like normal teeth?
Your bridges should be the exact size and shape of natural teeth. However, they may feel different to you, especially at first. This happens because they cannot sense heat, cold, or pressure as your natural teeth would. Once you get used to this, though, it becomes less noticeable. For tasks like chewing or speaking, patients should have no issues using their replacement teeth.
How long do bridges last?
The longevity of dental bridges can vary notably, ranging from 5 to 15 years for most patients. This variation is due to how different factors influence how long a bridge can last. During your consultation, our dentist will go over how long your specific set of bridges should last (along with tips for how to get the most out of them). Factors that influence how long bridges last can include:
- Type of bridge
- Oral hygiene
- Quality of bridge material
- Proper fit and placement
- Bruxism
- Diet and lifestyle
- Injuries or oral trauma
Are there other teeth replacement options?
Bridges are one of our three main teeth replacement options. Each of these methods has its own specific advantages. So the right choice depends on each patient’s individual needs. Our other teeth replacement options include:
- Implants: Ideal for replacing one tooth at a time. Highly durable results, but the process takes longer than dental bridges and has more requirements.
- Dentures: Better for replacing larger swaths of teeth, including entire sets.
Are bridges easy to clean?
Keeping your dental bridges clean is as easy as (or easier than!) cleaning your natural teeth. Brush twice a day…and that is about it. While you should still floss your other teeth, the bridge teeth themselves won’t have gaps between them. We also recommend getting a water flosser, which can help clear out any food caught in the bridge.
How much do dental bridges cost?
The cost of bridges will depend on the material, the number of “teeth” in the bridge, and any preparation treatments needed. While this can vary significantly, we prepare accurate quotes during your initial consultation based on your individual case. Some insurance providers may also cover part of the treatment. So we recommend reaching out to your insurance company to see what they may contribute.

Testimonials
Dr. Changela is an excellent dentist. He explained very detail before any treatments. I have a lot of dental work done. He will not do unnecessary work just to get pay. The office is very clean, the wait time is very minimal. My husband and I have seen Dr. Changela for over 4 years, and we are very happy with him.
