Pregnancy and Oral Health

Pregnancy can lead to dental problems in some women, including gum disease and increased risk of tooth decay.

Setting up an appointment with your Dentist in chino hills may be at the bottom of your list during your pregnancy, but it is a very important part in the development of your baby.  Your baby’s first teeth develop within the first three months of your pregnancy. It is advised to maintain a healthy balanced diet that contains an array of dairy products. This will help your baby develop strong healthy teeth, bones and gums.  Due to many hormonal changes during pregnancy it is very important to come in for your regular scheduled cleanings. This will help prevent the development of any form of gum disease (gingivitis & periodontal disease). Some dental procedures are best to be avoided during your pregnancy such as x-rays unless they are absolutely necessary. Be sure to inform your Dentist if you are pregnant so that the proper precautions are taken. Just remember to practice good oral hygiene skills ( i.e. floss & brush twice a day) to avoid any future problems.
